Trump taking the lead as European leaders assess Iran deal: Kellyanne Conway

Macron is the first leader to make a state visit to the US under the Trump presidency

Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) abruptly resigned earlier this month, the chances he would ever repay taxpayers for the $84,000 sexual harassment settlement he reached with a staffer, as he'd promised, shrank significantly. They've draped their arms over each other's shoulders, sat facing each other eagerly, and delicately touched each other's arms and outstretched hands while they walked and talked.

But now Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, has tried something more complicated.

"The rational analysis of all his statements does not make me think that he will do everything to maintain" the agreement signed with Iran to prevent the Islamic republic from acquiring an atomic bomb.

Macron, who said he respects Mr. Trump's decision, said he believes Trump wants to use tension to create his own deal.

There are three possibilities: scraping the deal, accepting it as it is or making limited amendments to it through Europe and upon Iran's approval. "Iran will not accept a nuclear deal with no benefits for us", Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said. "At the end of the day, it will destroy jobs, increase prices and the middle class will have to pay for it".

As Trump suggests, we may indeed have to wait until May 12 to know what the president will decide, although judging by the oil move today, it no longer appears definite that Trump will kill the Iran deal. It said the broad-rimmed topper could serve as a "moat" for "defence against a Trump kissing attack". A commercial war opposing allies is not consistent with our mission, with our history, with our current commitments to global security. Some may not be as polite as Macron, or Macaron, which Trump probably calls him behind his back.

Those comments drew criticism from the EU, prompting the bloc's foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, to reaffirm once again that the existing deal was working and thus should be saved. "This is a great honour and seldom allowed to be done.he will be GREAT!" Mr Trump has threatened to do this on May 12th, and may well still do so. She is also a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and a professor of practice at the London School of Economics.

Instead, Trump eyed a broader "deal" that would also limit Iran's ballistic missile programme and support for militant groups across the Middle East. President and First Lady Macron arrived like a breath of fresh air, all intelligence and sophistication and all the things we've been missing since January 2017. "Iran shall never possess any nuclear weapons", he said as the chamber rose with applause. In fact, they seem to enjoy it.

Mr Macron said such policies were a threat to global prosperity.

In his speech to Congress, Macron pushed the US to consider rejoining the Paris climate change agreement, which Trump announced his country would leave last year.

Highlighting the "special relationship" of Paris and Washington D.C., Macron stressed, "This is a time of determination and courage". His visit to the US this week has been a charm offensive peppered with handshakes and kisses between the two leaders to pronounce their warm relations.

Russia says it sees no room for amendments or additions to the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six world countries as a deadline looms for the US to announce whether or not it will keep its side of the bargain.
